NOTIFICATION

Subject:      CONSTITUTION OF COMMITTEE FOR REDUCING FEDERAL GOVERNMENT EXPENDITURES

F. No. 9-148/2002-Min-II. In pursuance of the approval of the Prime Minister, the subject Committee with the following composition is hereby constituted with immediate effect to present a practical plan for reduction in government expenditures:-

i)         Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission                  (Chairman)

ii)        Secretary, Cabinet Division                                         (Member)

iii)       Secretary, Finance Division                              (Member)

iv)       Mr. Rashid Mahrnood Langrial, Secretary, I.P        (Member)

v)         Dr. Kaiser Bengali                                          (Member)

vi)       Dr. Farrukh Saleem                                         (Member)

vii)      Mr. Muhammad Naveed Iftikhar                       (Member)

2.                 The Terms of Reference (ToRs) of the Committee shall be as under-

i)       Take stock of all reports commissioned so far, including report of the National Austerity Committee notified by Finance Division, for institutional reforms etc. aimed at downsizing of the Federal Government.

ii)        Capture all the progress made so far in downsizing/rightsizing of Federal Government.

iii)   Prepare strategy and implementation plan for Al remaining recommendations with timelines.

iv)     Any other proposal (relating to PSDP, Pension Scheme etc.) that can be helpful in reducing government expenditure.

3.         The Committee may co-opt any person from public/private sector, if deemed necessary, for the purposes of this task.

4.         The Committee shall submit its report within one (01) week, for perusal/consideration of the Prime Minister.

5.         Cabinet Division shall provide secretarial support to the Committee.
