Subject:          MAINTAINING LAW AND ORDER IN ICT IN THE WAKE OF SCO SUMMIT

I am directed to refer to the subject cited above and to state that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered Ministry of Interior (MoI) to ensure that no unlawful protests are held in Islamabad, especially during the SCO Summit, to avert potential disruptions to peace and lockdown situations. This order was made on October 5, 2024, while hearing a petition from the All Traders Welfare Association Blue Area Islamabad (copy enclosed). The orders are reproduced as below;

“Moreover, the respondents shall ensure that no unlawful protest is held in 1CT that creates situation of lockdown or disrupt peace in ICT during the period of SCO summit.

2.                     In the light of the above court order, the ICT administration is, therefore, directed:

1.         To prevent and stop any unlawful assembly or protests in the ICT specially during the high-profile event of SCO Summit.

2.         To implement robust security measures to maintain law and order in Islamabad territory during the SCO summit.

3.         In addition, ICT administration shall disseminate the above information for the benefit of general public at large.

3.         The matter be accorded top priority and implementation be ensured without fail.
