Gilgit-Baltistan Mourns the Loss of His Highness Aga Khan IV – Official Notification Issued:

The Government of Gilgit-Baltistan has officially declared a three-day mourning period following the passing of His Highness Aga Khan IV, Shah Karim al Hussaini, the esteemed spiritual leader of the Ismaili community. In honor of his legacy and immense contributions, the National Flag of Pakistan will remain at half-mast across the region from 5th to 7th February 2025.

His Highness Aga Khan IV was a global figure, recognized for his humanitarian efforts, contributions to education, and development projects worldwide. The people of Gilgit-Baltistan hold a deep connection with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), which has significantly contributed to the region’s education, health, and infrastructure development.

The notification, issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), Government of Gilgit-Baltistan, directs all relevant authorities to observe the mourning period with due solemnity. Notification Describes;

NOTIFICATION.

No.SO(G)-MISC.1(32)/2025. On the sad demise of His Highness Aga Khan IV, Shah Karim al Hussaini, the spiritual leader of the Ismaili community, the Government of Gilgit- Baltistan has decided to observe three days mourning from 5th to 7th February 2025 within GB. The National Flag of Pakistan shall fly at half mast throughout the region from 5th to 7th February 2025.
