Governor KPK Calls for Urgent Action on Load Shedding During Ramadan:
As the Holy Month of Ramadan 2025 approaches, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is facing severe electricity and gas shortages, causing distress among the people, especially during Sehri and Iftar hours. In a government notification, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has written to Prime Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, highlighting the paradox of energy shortages in KP, a province that is a major producer of hydroelectric power and natural gas.
The Governor’s letter emphasizes the unfair distribution of electricity and gas, urging the federal government to take immediate action. Load shedding during Ramadan 2025 has become a pressing issue, affecting households, businesses, and essential services. SUBJECT: Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Urgent Attention Required to the Issue of Load shedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa During the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Dear Prime Minister, Mian Shahbaz Sharif,
                             I hope this letter finds you in good health. I am writing to bring to your esteemed attention a matter of great concern that requires immediate action. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is a significant producer of electricity and natural gas; however, it is incongruous that despite being a major producer of environment friendly, cost-effective hydroelectric power and natural gas, the province is facing shortages and deprivation of these vital resources during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
                             As you have already issued directives to the concerned authorities to ensure the uninterrupted supply of electricity and gas across the country during this Holy Month, in order to uphold the spirit of Ramadan- a time for spiritual reflection, fasting, and increased devotion- across the country. The timing of these outages, particularly during Sehri and Iftar hours, has caused immense hardship for the residents of the province. Moreover, many households are struggling with limited or no access to electricity and the gas shortage is further exacerbating the situation.
                             Considering the significance of this Holy Month, I kindly request that immediate action be taken to address these issues. I urge you to direct the concerned authorities to mitigate load shedding and ensure that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with the rest of the nation, are able to observe this blessed month with ease and dignity.
