Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Tightens Social Media Restrictions to Protect Integrity and Security-Notification

Subject:-          SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY – BAN ON USAGE OF SOCIAL MEDIA FOR ALL RANK AND FILE OF KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA POLICE

In continuation to the instructions issued vide CPO Letters bearing No.27371AB dated 26.11.2021, 1169-74/CPO/IAB dated 31.08.2022, No.560-65/CPO/IAB dated 20.04.2023, No.581-85/CPO/IAB dated 26.04.2023, No. 1880-84/CPO/IAB dated 08.12.2023 and No.35-55/CPO/IAB dated 04.01.2024, No.1033-37/CPO/IAB dated 10.06.2024 (copies attached) on the subject cited above.

In this regard, the aforementioned SOPs were issued to uphold the integrity and professionalism of the department. However, despite clear instructions regarding ban on usage of all type of Social Media apps from time to time for strict compliance, most of the rank and file of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police are not adhering to these SOPs and are still using social media apps i.e. TikTok, Facebook, Thread, Instagram, YouTube and WhatsApp etc. in order to grab attention.

Furthermore, all ranks and files of KP Police were also banned from use of KP Police flag, emblems, insignia, any part of uniform, equipment, arms or ammunition or the Police logotype, and personal pictures uniform as part of personal Social Media Profile but must of police personnel are still violating the instructions se issued. Such violations not only threaten the integrity of the department but also endanger the lives of the members of the K.P Police.

In view of the above, the Competent Authority has directed to strictly adhere to the instructions concerning to Social Media Policy issued vide above quoted Letters from time to time and please spread this message about Social Media Policy of KP Police to all rank and file.

In addition, all Unit Heads, RPOs, and DPOs are directed to initiate strict departmental action against those police personnel who have been breaching the K.P Police Social Media Policy.
