Peshawar Imposes Section 144: Afghan Refugees Restricted Amid Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) Security Measures of -Deputy Commissioner Issued Notification

THE DEPUTY COMMISSIONER, PESHAWAR

ORDER UNDER SECTION 144 CrPC

WHEREAS, it has been instructed by the Provincial Govt through Assistant to Commissioner (P/D), Peshawar Division, Peshawar that Chehlum-2024 is going to be observed on 26^th August 2024 and the movement of Afghan Refugees may be restricted to their camps and not to be allowed to move around.

AND WHEREAS, there exist substantive threats of miscreants targeting the processions, majalis, etc. during Chehlum 2024 as well as gatherings which might not only result in loss of precious lives but also would create a lays-and-order situation in District Peshawar.

AND WHEREAS, I have reasons to believe that there are sufficient grounds to proceed under section 144 CrPC for greater public interest.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Capt (R) Sarmad Saleem Akram, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar in exercise of powers conferred on me u/s 144 CrPC, do hereby order and impose ban on the movement of Afghan Refugees out of their camps and not be allowed to move around within the jurisdiction of District Peshawar.

Anyone found violating this order shall be proceeded against u/s 188 P.P.C.

This order shall come into force on 23^rd August, 2024 and shall remain enforced for a period of 06 days (24^th Aug 2024 — 30^th Aug 2024) unless modified or withdrawn.
