Punjab Government Imposes Section 144: Protests and Processions Banned from October 18 to 19, 2024-Notification

ORDER

 No. SO(IS-II)1-1/2004. it has been observed that in view of prevailing law and order situation and threat perceptions, any kind of protest / procession is likely to provide soft target to terrorist and miscreants, which not only serious security threats but it is also likely to cause danger and public peace and order as well as inconvenience to public at large.

2.        AND WHEREAS, in view of the facts stated about, it is essential to ensure security of the people and installations / buildings against any potential terrorist or untold activity in the larger interest of public safety security and tranquility.

3.       AND WHEREAS, there is sufficient grounds to proceed under section 144 of the code of criminal procedure 1898, as an immediate prevention and speedy remedy, to prevent disturbance of public peace, safety of lives & ights and property of public and truck quality in the province of Punjab.

4.       NOW THEREFORE, Government of The Punjab, in exercise of power vested under section 144(6) of the code of criminal procedure 1898, hereby, prohibits all kind of protects processions and such like other activities across Punjab with effect from October 18 to 19 2024.

5.       This order shall be given wide publicity for information of general public through Publication in the official Gazette, daily newspaper and broadcasting through the radio Pakistan and Pakistan television, Lahore as news item.
