The Government of Sindh has issued an official notification announcing a 120-day special remission for convicted prisoners across the province on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr 1446 (2025). This special relief is granted under Rule 788, 789, 790, and 791 of the Sindh Prisons and Corrections Service Rules, 2019, as part of the government’s humanitarian approach to supporting eligible inmates.
However, the remission does not apply to prisoners convicted of serious offenses, including murder, espionage, anti-state activities, terrorism, rape, dacoity, financial crimes, and narcotics-related offenses. Additionally, foreign prisoners and those involved in financial embezzlement will not benefit from this remission.
The notification directs that the remission details be recorded immediately in the official prison records to ensure timely implementation. This step reflects the Sindh government’s commitment to providing reformative relief while maintaining law and order. Please find notification:

Why Sindh’s Special Remission for Prisoners on Eid Matters:
The special remission granted by the Government of Sindh highlights a compassionate approach towards prisoners who have shown good conduct and are eligible for early release. This initiative aligns with Eid-ul-Fitr’s message of mercy, forgiveness, and second chances.
By excluding individuals involved in major crimes, the government ensures that public safety remains a priority, while deserving prisoners get a chance to reintegrate into society sooner. The decision also aligns with international standards on prisoner rehabilitation and humane treatment.
