Private Schools Cannot Charge Full Summer Vacation Fee in Advance – Punjab Govt Issues Orders:
The District Education Authority (DEA) Mandi Bahauddin has issued a strict notification dated 23rd May 2025, referencing the earlier directive of the School Education Department (SED), Government of Punjab vide letter No. SO(A-I)MISC/2012 dated 07-05-2014.
According to this official communication, it has been observed with serious concern that some private schools in District Mandi Bahauddin are collecting the entire tuition fee for the three-month summer vacation period in advance. This practice has drawn displeasure from the District Registration Authority (DRA), and is now strictly prohibited.

SUBJECT: TUTION FEE CHARGED DURING SUMMER VACATIONS BY PRIVATE SCHOOLS
I am directed to refer the School Education Department, Govt. Of Punjab Lahore letter No. SO(A-I)MISC/2012 Dated: 07.05.2014, on the subject cited above (copy enclosed) and to intimate that the District Registration Authority (DRA) has shown its displeasure regarding charging of tuition fee by private schools for entire summer vacations (three months) in advance at the beginning of summer vacations.
2. I am further directed to intimate that the School Education Department, Govt. of Punjab, has also taken a serious view of this situation, and has directed that the monthly tuition fee for the summer vacations period will be charged on monthly basis and parents guardians shall not be pressed harassed for advance payments. Hence, the instructions be implemented in true letter and spirit. It is reiterated that the disciplinary action should be taken against defaulter private school’s management, if any evidence/complaint received.

This latest directive highlights the Punjab Government’s commitment to protect parents from financial overburdening during summer breaks. All principals and heads of private schools in Mandi Bahauddin are advised to comply with this policy strictly, and not demand bulk advance payments from parents.
The District Education Authority has made it clear that any school found violating these rules will face disciplinary proceedings, and complaints by parents will be taken seriously.
