Educational Institutions Closed in Nankana Sahib for Besakhi Festival 2025–DC Issues Orders:
In a significant administrative move, the Deputy Commissioner of Nankana Sahib has announced the temporary closure of several educational institutions in light of the upcoming Besakhi Festival 2025. According to the official government notification, a meeting was held on April 8, 2025, to review security and other arrangements related to the festival.
Following that meeting, it has been decided that from April 11 to April 15, 2025, the following institutions will remain closed:
- Govt. Baba Guru Nanak University
- Govt. Danish School / Center of Excellence
- Govt. Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School for Boys
- Govt. Special Education Center
- Govt. School for Slow Learners
This decision has been made to ensure smooth and secure observance of Besakhi celebrations, which are expected to attract a significant number of visitors and require enhanced security protocols. Please find notification;

ORDER
In pursuance of the decision taken in the meeting to review the security and allied arrangements dated 08.04.2025, following educational Institutions will remain closed w.e.f. 11.04.2025 to 15.04.2025 during the observance of Besakhi Festival, 2025:-
- Govt. Baba Guru Nanak University, Nankana Sahib.
- Govt. Danish School/Center of Excellence, Nankana Sahib.
- Govt. Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School for Boys, Nankana Sahib.
- Govt. Special Education Center, Nankana Sahib.
- Govt. School for Slow Learners, Nankana Sahib.
Note: This order will not affect on the examinations schedule already issued by BISE Lahore or any other Boards/Universities.

Besakhi 2025: Nankana Sahib Schools to Stay Closed Temporarily – Exams to Continue as Scheduled:
As the holy city of Nankana Sahib prepares for Besakhi Festival 2025, the District Administration has taken proactive steps to manage the crowd, ensure safety, and facilitate pilgrims. The Deputy Commissioner has issued a formal directive to suspend educational activities in select schools and universities between April 11 and April 15.
However, it’s important to note that this closure will not affect any ongoing or scheduled examinations by BISE Lahore or other boards and universities. Students appearing in exams must follow the exam schedule as originally issued.
Besakhi is an important religious and cultural event, especially in Sikh heritage, and Nankana Sahib, being the birthplace of Baba Guru Nanak, plays a central role in its celebration.
