Finance Division Clarifies Rules on Temporary Duty Allowance – Important Update:
The Government of Pakistan’s Finance Division has released an important notification regarding the rules and regulations for government employees on temporary duty within the country. As per Supplementary Rules (SR) 73 & 74, government servants are entitled to a full daily allowance for the first 10 days of continuous halt at a single location. However, after 10 consecutive days, the location will be considered their temporary headquarters, affecting their allowance eligibility.
This notification provides clarification on extended stays, particularly for those staying at hill stations beyond 10 days. OFFICE MEMORANDUM
SUBJECT: CONTINUOUS HALT ON TEMPORARY DUTY WITHIN COUNTRY
The undersigned is directed to refer to the subject noted above and to state that the government servants are entitled to Daily allowance at full rate for the period of continuous halt on temporary duty of ten days at one place in term of Supplementary Rules (SR) – 73. After continuous halt of ten day’s duration, the halting place shall be regarded as the government servant’s temporary headquarters in term of Supplementary Rules (SR) – 74.
2. In case the Government servant extends his stay at the hill station for more than ten days, in such case the Principal Accounting Officers/Head of the Departments have full power to sanction daily allowance to the extent of 30 days in individual cases. Hill station means any place as specified in Supplementary Rules (SR) – 2 (11) for the purposes of travelling allowance.
