Gilgit-Baltistan Government Suspends Local Holidays in Key Sectors:
In a major administrative decision, the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) has suspended all local holidays for specific public sector departments. The move comes as a result of the 15th Gilgit-Baltistan Cabinet meeting held on 26th February 2025, where officials decided to keep essential government services operational without interruption.
According to the latest government notification, the exemption applies to:
- GB Health Department
- GB Schools Education Department
- GB Higher, Technical & Special Education Department
This decision ensures uninterrupted public service delivery in healthcare and education sectors across the region. Effective immediately, employees in the mentioned departments will not observe local holidays until further notice.

No. SO (G)-1(14)/2023: In pursuance of the decision taken in the 15th Gilgit-Baltistan Cabinet meeting held on 26th February 2025, the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan hereby exempts all local holidays in the following departments with immediate effect and until further orders:
- GB Health Department.
- GB Schools Education Department.
- GB Higher, Technical & Special Education Department.
2. This notification shall take effect immediately.
