OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Subject: SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY.
Please refer to Establishment Division’s Letter No. E-No. 14/3/2022-D-11, Dated September 2, 2024. The authority has issued following instructions/directives regarding use of social media platforms which must be adhered in true letter and spirit.
- Without prior permission. Police officers/officials are restrained from speaking at public forums in official capacity, publishing articles in print media, or giving any opinions or official statements across all social media platforms.
- Making videos 8 Pictures with police uniform in government premises, buildings and vehicles or other private places for personal publicity and glorification is prohibited.
- Nobody shall upload any kind of secret or official documents, pictures or contents of the documents on social media.
- No personal political or religious views can be shared by the police officers on any media platform.
- Official channels regarding police activities shall only be run by Public Relations Branch CPO.
- Officers/officials wishing to highlight positive departmental activities through videos or other social media platforms must obtain regular departmental permission from DIG Headquarters. CPO through Public Relations Branch.
- Unit heads are responsible for personally supervising and monitoring the activities of officers/officials posted in their respective division, zones and units. Strict departmental action will he taken according to the rules in case of any violation, if needed.
- This policy will remain in force until further orders and officers/officials and personnel of all ranks must ensure strict implementation of this policy.
