Subject:           ASSIGNMENT OF ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE SECOND SPELL OF THREE MONTHS.

I am directed to refer to me subject cited above and state that it has been observed that Administrative Departments assign the additional charge of post(s) to officer(s) against vacant post(s) without considering the stipulated time period, i.e. after completion of three months of additional charge, they let the officer continue holding the additional charge, of the same post(s) without seeking prior approval of theFinance Department whereas, it has been clearly mentioned in our circular letter NO.FD.SR-II/2-3B/70 dated 17 03 1988 that additional charge for the second spell may be extended, if so required, after due consultation with the Finance Department

2.                     It is, therefore, advised that all the departments should ensure that additional charge may not be assigned to an officer for the second spell of three months without prior consultation with the Finance Department.
