Punjab Government Restores All Kinds of Leaves for Employees After Ceasefire – Read Full Notification:
In a major development following the Ceasefire Agreement between Pakistan and India, the Government of Punjab has officially withdrawn its previous orders regarding the cancellation of all types of leaves for government employees. The Services & General Administration Department (S&GAD), through its Implementation & Coordination Wing, issued this latest notification dated 12th May 2025.
This directive supersedes the earlier letter dated 7th May 2025, which had temporarily suspended all leave permissions for civil servants across the province due to national security concerns. With peace talks moving forward, the Punjab Government has now reverted to the Punjab Revised Leave Rules, 1981, allowing departments to process leave requests as per regular procedure.
This update comes as a relief for thousands of government employees, especially those working in administration, education, law enforcement, and health sectors. Departments have been instructed to deal with all casual, earned, medical, and ex-Pakistan leave requests in accordance with the rules without delay. Please find notification:

SUBJECT: IMMEDIATE CANCELLATION OF ALL TYPES OF LEAVE
I am directed to refer to the Competent Authority’s instructions issued vide this department’s substituted letter of even number dated 07.05.2025 on the subject cited above and to convey that these instructions are hereby withdrawn with immediate effect in the wake of recent Ceasefire Agreement between Pakistan and India.
2. I am further directed to convey that, henceforth, all types of leave applications may be dealt with in accordance with Punjab Revised Leave Rules, 1981, as amended from time to time.
