Revised Pay Scale Chart 2026:
The Revised Pay Scale Chart 2026 covers all grades from BPS-1 to BPS-22, and applies to federal government employees paid from civil and defence estimates. It was formed by merging the Ad hoc Relief Allowance-2022 and Ad hoc Relief Allowance-2025 into the basic pay, creating a simplified, higher base salary structure.
Employees have a 30-day window to opt into the new scale or continue under BPS-2022. Anyone who doesn’t choose within that period is automatically shifted to the revised scale.

Initial Basic Pay, Annual Increment, and Last Basic Pay 2026 and 2022 Pay Scales:
Every grade has three key numbers: the initial basic pay (Stage 0, what a fresh appointee earns), the annual increment (the fixed yearly raise added each year of service), and the last basic pay (the maximum at the top stage of that grade).
For example, under the 2026 scale:
- BPS-1: starts at Rs 16,280, rises by Rs 520 a year, and tops out at Rs 31,880.
- BPS-17: starts at Rs 54,140, rises by Rs 4,110 a year, and tops out at Rs 136,340.
- BPS-22: starts at Rs 146,770, rises by Rs 10,470 a year, and tops out at Rs 293,350.
Compare that to 2022, and it’s clear the increment amount itself has grown too — not just the starting pay.
Net Effect of Basic Pay in New Pay Scales 2026 and Annual Increment:
So what’s the real, net impact? Across all 22 grades, the minimum basic pay has risen by roughly 20% compared to 2022, and the maximum basic pay by a similar 20–21%. The annual increment amount has grown at almost the same rate.
This is a bigger jump than a simple allowance increase — because the 2022 and 2025 ad hoc allowances are now folded permanently into the basic pay. That matters because basic pay is what pension, increment, and several other allowances are calculated from.
Stages of Pay Scale Chart:
Each BPS grade is divided into “stages” — one for every year of service, from Stage 0 (joining pay) up to Stage 30 (or Stage 20/14 for higher grades). Every year, an employee moves one stage up and receives the fixed annual increment.
Example — BPS-17 (2026 scale):
| Stage | Basic Pay (Rs) |
| 0 (joining) | 54,140 |
| 5 | 74,690 |
| 10 | 95,240 |
| 15 | 115,790 |
| 20 (last stage) | 136,340 |
This step-by-step growth is exactly why the Revised Pay Scale Chart 2026 is useful — it lets any employee find their exact stage and know their current basic pay instantly.
