Sindh Government Deploys 1828 Constables to Protect Minority Worship Places Across Province:
In a major move to uphold religious freedom and strengthen minority rights, the Government of Sindh Police Department has officially issued a Government Notification for the creation and deployment of a Special Police Force (SPF). This force, comprising 1828 constables, has been established specifically for the protection of worship places of religious minorities across Sindh.
This decision directly aligns with the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s order dated 19th June 2014 (PLD 2014 SC 699), which emphasized the need for increased security and proactive measures for minority communities. The force was created during the fiscal year 2022-23, and its implementation reflects a significant step towards inclusive and equal protection under the law.
The Sindh Police has now directed all relevant ranges—including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, SBA, Mirpurkhas, and Larkana—to submit a by-name list of deployed SPF constables and their respective postings by May 21, 2025. Please find notification:

SUBJECT: ESTABLISHMENT OF SPECIAL POLICE FORCE (SPF) IN SINDH POLICE FOR SECURITY OF WORSHIP PLACES OF MINORITY.
Enclosed please find herewith committee report vide No. 16278/EB-III/T-7/S&S/2020 dated: 03-12-2020 on the subject noted above.
02. It is stated that the creation of Special Police Unit was a mandatory requirement being the directions issued by the Honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan in order dated: 19.06.2014 (PLD 2014 SC 699). In this regard, 1828 constables in Special Police Force (SPF) were appointed for the purpose of protection of worship places of minorities in the year 2022-23.
03. It is therefore requested to provide by name list of the constables appointed in Special Police Force along with the worship places of minorities where they are deployed by 21.05.2025.
