Larkano Schools Get New Timings Amid Severe Heatwave Alert – Precautionary Measures Issued
In view of the severe heatwave expected to hit Larkano, the Deputy Commissioner’s Office has issued an official notification revising school timings and ordering safety measures across all schools and educational institutions in the district. The circular, dated 23rd May 2025, follows a letter from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and aims to protect students and teachers from heatstroke and other heat-related risks.
The updated school timings are as follows:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM
Alongside the timing update, the notification highlights strict preventive measures such as the availability of ORS and cold water, conducting assemblies under shade, and ensuring functional medical kits and cooling systems in schools.

SUBJECT: HEAT WAVE ADVISORY
With reference to PDMA’s letter No. PDMA(s)/PEOC/01/ 2025/6508 dated 19thMay2025 (copy enclosed) regarding the upcoming Heat Wave, the following timings and protectivemeasures are advised to prevent HEAT STROKE attack to students and teaching staff:
REVISED SCHOOL TIMINGS:
Monday to Thursday | 08:00 AM to 12:30 PM |
Friday | 08:00 AM to 11:30 AM |
Necessary Measures/stepsmust be ensured in allSchools/Institutions of the District:
1. The morning assemblies must be conducted under proper shade/sheltered areas.
2. Ensure availability of cold drinking water and ORS in school.
3. The medical facilities first aid kits should be available in schools.
4. Ensure students remain under shade until they are safely picked up to avoid direct exposure to extreme heat.
5. Ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity/solar/generator etc. and maintenance of class room temperature.
You are therefore, advised to direct all the concerned School administrators and head of institutions for strict compliance of above given instructions positively.
