Punjab Higher Education Department Revises College Timings Amid Intense Heat – Effective from 21 May 2025:
In light of the recent heatwave and rising temperatures across Punjab, the Higher Education Department (HED) Punjab has issued an official government notification revising the working hours of all public and private sector colleges. The new timings will be enforced from 21st May to 27th May 2025, aiming to ensure the safety and well-being of students and teaching staff during this extremely hot weather.
According to the notification dated 20th May 2025, morning shift colleges will operate from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM (Mon-Thu & Sat), while Friday’s schedule will be 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Similarly, evening shifts will function from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on all working days, including Saturday.
This change is temporary and applicable across Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Gujranwala, and all districts of Punjab under the jurisdiction of HED. Students, teachers, and administrators are advised to strictly follow the new college timing notification. Please find notification:

No.SO(G)MISC/2025. In the wake of surge in temperature and severe hot weather in the province, the following timings shall be observed in all public and private sector colleges working under the jurisdiction of Higher Education Department (HED) Punjab w.e.f. 21-05-2025 to 27-05-2025.

Students & Colleges in Punjab Advised to Follow Revised Timetable Till 27 May:
The Government of Punjab’s response to the scorching weather conditions is timely and considerate, especially for students and faculty members exposed to intense daytime heat. The revised college timing notification issued by the Higher Education Department (HED) Punjab is expected to reduce the risk of heatstroke and other heat-related health concerns during educational hours.
All colleges under HED, whether morning or evening shift, must ensure strict compliance with the adjusted schedules till 27th May 2025. Institutions are encouraged to notify students through SMS, college websites, and social platforms to avoid any confusion.
