Government of Gilgit-Baltistan Announces Police Promotions: 17 Officers Elevated to Deputy Superintendent:

The Government of Gilgit-Baltistan has announced a significant advancement within its police department, reflecting the continued commitment to enhancing the efficiency and professionalism of its law enforcement agencies. In a recent notification issued by the Gilgit-Baltistan Secretariat on January 24, 2025, a total of seventeen Police Inspectors (BS-16) were promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (BS-17) following recommendations made by the Departmental Promotion Board (DPB). This promotion is a recognition of the dedication and hard work of these officers, who have demonstrated exemplary service in their roles. The promotion is contingent upon the final outcome of Civil Petitions for Leave to Appeal (CPLAs) pending before the Apex Court, with the promotion officially taking effect from the date of the DPB meeting, which was held on December 19, 2024. This move is not only a testament to the capabilities and potential of the officers involved but also a step toward strengthening the police force in Gilgit-Baltistan by ensuring that the most qualified individuals ascend to positions of greater responsibility. No.SO(S)-I-1(35)/2025.                 Having been recommended by the Departmental Promotion Board (DPB), the following Police Inspectors (BS-16) are hereby promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (BS-17) in Police Department Gilgit-Baltistan on conditional basis subject to the final outcome of CPLAs from Apex Court w.e.f the date of DPB meeting i.e. 19th December, 2024:

02-                        They will be on probation for a period of one year, extendable for a further period of one year under Section-5, Sub Section (2) of Gilgit-Baltistan Civil Servants Act, 2011. If no order is issued on expiry of first year of probation, the probation shall be deemed to have been extended for a further period of one year.
