The decision was made in response to the low number of registrations received during the previous deadline ending on April 4, 2025. According to the latest Government Notification issued by the Minerals, Industries, Commerce & Labour Department, miners now have until May 3, 2025, to complete their online registration at portal.minesandmineralsgb.gog.pk. The government has strictly emphasized that this will be the last opportunity for compliance under GBMCR Rule 44(5) amended 2024. All individuals and groups involved in gemstone extraction must follow the updated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to avoid disqualification. Post-deadline, no further applications for pit registration will be entertained. In continuation of this office Notification of even number dated 24th February, 2025, that all the individual/ groups involved with gemstone Mining were informed for registration through official web portal of Gemstone Mining Permits at various pits in their respective locations under provisions of GBMCR within a period of one month i.e. till 4th April, 2025. But small numbers of cases has been applied thorough online portal for registrations, mostly of existing attached with the GMP individuals/groups are not followed/comply the instructions issued by the Government under provision of GBMCR rule 44(5) amended in 2024. 2.                           The Competent Authority/Secretary Minerals Industries, Commerce & Labour Department Gilgit Baltistan has been pleased to extend the period for registration of Gemstone Mining Permits (GMP) by giving an another chance for further period of one month commencing from 4th April, 2025 to 3rd May, 2025 to make the case of doing business. 3.                           The individuals/groups engaged in gemstone mining are hereby informed to comply with the SOPs available on the official web portal: portal.minesandmineralsgb.gog.pk of the Mines & Minerals Department Gilgit Baltistan. After expiry of the extended period, no pits of GMP shall be registered and lease applications for gemstones mining shall be processed forthwith. Section Officer (M&M) Last Chance for Gilgit-Baltistan Miners to Secure Legal Gemstone Mining Rights: This is a crucial moment for all gemstone miners operating in Gilgit-Baltistan. Notification / OM No. No. SO(S)-I-1(30)/2025 Dated 24-February-2025 Notification Issued By: Services, General Administration And Cabinet Department, Gilgit-Baltistan Secretariat, Government Of Gilgit-Baltistan GB Government Bans Deputation to Key Secretariats: In a major administrative move, the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) has officially banned the deputation of officers and officials from line and attached departments to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Governor’s Secretariat, and the Civil Secretariat. This decision, approved by Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan, has been taken on administrative grounds and in the public interest to ensure efficient governance and resource allocation. The Services, General Administration & Cabinet Department (S&GAD) has directed all Administrative Secretaries to stop processing deputation cases to the GB Secretariat. This step is expected to bring greater stability and transparency in administrative affairs while ensuring that government officials remain focused on their designated roles within their respective departments. This circular marks a significant shift in the administrative policies of Gilgit-Baltistan, aiming to streamline governance and maintain institutional efficiency. Officials and stakeholders are advised to comply with this directive for smooth implementation.
