Government Announces Implementation Plan for Rightsizing of Federal Departments:
The Ministry of National Food Security and Research has issued a directive regarding the implementation of a Cabinet decision on the Rightsizing of the Federal Government, emphasizing streamlining operations across departments and organizations under its administrative control. The notification, dated January 9, 2025, highlights the urgency and importance of aligning departmental structures with the Cabinet’s vision for efficiency and optimized resource allocation.
Heads of Departments and Organizations have been instructed to develop a comprehensive implementation plan based on the template provided (Annex-II) and prepare a detailed presentation outlining the proposed actions. The deadline for submission of these plans in both hard and soft formats is January 13, 2025, to ensure timely review and approval by the Rightsizing Committee. Additionally, department heads are required to present their plans to the Secretary of the Ministry as per the provided schedule (Annex-III).
This initiative seeks to address redundancies, optimize resource utilization, and create a streamlined structure within the Federal Government. The collaborative approach ensures all stakeholders contribute to a unified framework that aligns with national objectives. Notification Describes;

Enclosed please find herewith a copy of Cabinet Decision on Rightsizing of Federal Government (Annex-I).
2. In order to submit the implementation plan with timelines to the Rightsizing Committee by 20th January, 2025, all Heads of Departments/Organizations under the administrative control of this Ministry are requested to submit requisite information on enclosed template (Annex-II) with a presentation on implementation plan (both in hard & soft form), as approved by the Cabinet for each organization, latest by 13th January, 2025 well before the office closing hours to respective dealing Section Officers of this Ministry.
3. Heads of Departments/Organizations shall make a presentation of their respective department/organization in this regard to the Secretary, M/o NFS&R as per enclosed scheduled (Annex-III). Concerned SOs/DSs of MNFSR shall attend the meeting and furnish the final approved decisions/minutes/transition plans, for their organizations.
