Federal Cabinet Approves 60% Reduction of Vacant Posts: Ministries Directed to Implement-Notification

Subject:          DECISIONS OF THE CABINET MEETING HELD ON  TUESDAY, THE 27^TH AUGUST, 2024

My dear Secretary,

It is apprised that the Federal Cabinet in its meeting held on 27.08.2024 approved the recommendation of the High Powered Committee on Rightsizing of the Federal Government as below:-

“.60 % of vacant regular posts to be abolished or declared dying posts”

2.  You may be aware that the powers of abolition of posts have been delegated to PAO/Secretaries of the Ministries/ Division, under the Financial Management and Powers of PAO Regulations, 2021. In all such cases, abolition of posts shall be notified by the Division concerned.

3.   For implementation of the above decision, Establishment Division along with Finance Division have been made responsible to provide update on abolition of posts to Cabinet Division. In order to carry out the said assignment/exercise, it is requested to provide the requisite information/details along with notifications about abolished posts or posts declared as dying, related to your Division and attached organizational entities as per attached format by 13.9.2024.

4.        In view of above, a Focal Pawn of the Division may also be nominated to coordinate with Focal Person of Establishment Division [Mr. Shahid Nawaz Satti, Director (PPARC), Contact No. 9252101/03345155510] for the assigned task.
