SUBJECT: THEME OF THE MONTH ACTIVITIES FOR OCTOBER: “A TRIBUTE TO OUR GUIDING STARS: PARENTS AND TEACHERS (والدین اور اساتذہ کی عظمت کو سلام)

2. I am directed to inform that Government of the Punjab is pleased to introduce “Theme of the Month” series in public schools. In first month of this initiative the School Education Department of Punjab has planned to pay tribute to parents and teachers in order to foster a culture of respect and gratitude within our educational communities in general and society in particular. The theme of this month is: “A Tribute to Our Guiding Stars: Parents and Teachers” This initiative aims to engage students, parents, and teachers in meaningful interactions that reflect our appreciation for their invaluable contributions.

Teachers’ Day Celebration & Tree Plantation Drive | Special activities will be organized to honor teachers in schools, including a tree plantation initiative where each tree will be dedicated to the name of every teacher currently serving at the school or retired from the school | |
10th October 2024 | Tableaux Presentation | Theme: “Icons of Respect” Students will perform dramatizations portraying the roles of parents and teachers in shaping their lives |
Digital Art/Digital Posters Classroom Decoration Competition | Theme: “Classrooms Inspired by Respect” (Digital Art/Digital Posters) students may prepare digital posters on their own but aligned with the theme of the month. | |
11th October 2024 | Parents’ Day Celebration | Special activities to honor parents in schools. Parents will be invited in schools and offered seat of honour to them |
Gratitude Wall Tribute Wall | A display where students can post messages of thanks to their parents and teachers | |

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:
- The Student Council representatives (Presidents, Vice Presidents, General Secretaries) will manage these events at school, tehsil, and district levels. The school administration will provide essential facilities and support. District Education Officer (SE) will be focal person for these monthly activities. DPI (SE) will coordinate with districts.
- The District Education Authority will encourage the Tehsil and District level winners by awarding them certificates and prizes.
- The District Education officers (SEs) are responsible to appoint judges for evaluating performances and to establish committees for the tehsil and district-level competitions.
- All competitions will be held separately for elementary and high school levels.
- Separate venues should be allocated for boys’ and girls’ schools’ competitions.
TERMS OF REFERENCE (TOR) FOR EVENT CELEBRATION:
- Objective:
To foster respect and gratitude towards parents and teachers by engaging students in various educational and creative activities.
- Scope:
The activities will be conducted at school, tehsil, and district levels, with active participation from students, parents, and teachers.
- Responsibilities:
- School organizing committees will coordinate events, manage logistics, and ensure participation
- All heads of schools will ensure the safe transportation of students to the event venues.
- Judges will evaluate performances based on creativity. relevance, and expression
- Timeline:
Events will be held on the specified dates. Schools, tehsil, and district authorities are expected to adhere to the deadlines for preparation and organization.
- Evaluation Criteria:
Performances will be judged on:
- Originality of content and ideas.
- Presentation and clarity of expression.
- Adherence to the event theme of gratitude towards parents and teachers.
- Venue Arrangements:
- Ensure that event venues are clean and properly maintained.
- Proper seating arrangements should be made for participants and guests.
- Ensure the availability of drinking water and other essential facilities for all participants.
- Media Coverage:
Ensure that all district-level competitions are well-documented with photographs and media coverage to highlight the success of the events.
