Local Holiday Alert: Gilgit-Baltistan Government Declares Special Holidays in February 2025:
The Deputy Commissioner/District Magistrate of Gilgit has officially declared local and optional holidays for February 2025. As per the notification, two significant Islamic occasions will be observed as public or optional holidays in District Gilgit. The local holiday on 2nd February 2025 (3rd Shaban 1446 A.H) marks the birth anniversary of Imam Hussain (A.S.), while 14th February 2025 (15th Shaban 1446 A.H) is designated for the birth anniversary of Imam Mehdi (A.S.) and Shab-e-Barat as an optional holiday.
This announcement aligns with the directives from the Home & Prisons Department and the General Administration Department of Gilgit-Baltistan. Government offices, educational institutions, and relevant departments will observe these holidays accordingly. Employees and residents of Gilgit are advised to take note of these holiday schedules. In pursuance of the Home & Prisons Department Gilgit-Baltistan bearing letter No. PR-19(7)/59 dated 30th December 1966, letter No. CS-II-1(27)/95 dated 30th May 2001 and notification No. SO (G)-1(14)/2020 dated 3January 20223 received from General Administration Department GB Gilgit.
I, Amir Azam Hamza, Deputy Commissioner/District Magistrate Gilgit do hereby declare the following local/ optional holidays in District Gilgit on account of the occasions mentioned against each:
