Punjab Government Launches Summer Learning Camps for Out-of-School Children:

In a major initiative to improve foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) skills among children, the Punjab Education Sector Reform Programme (PESRP) under the TALEEM Programme has announced the launch of Summer Learning Camps 2025 in 12 districts across Punjab.

These camps will focus on students aged 5-9 years who are currently enrolled in schools but struggle with learning, along with efforts to enroll out-of-school children and provide them with basic education before mainstream schooling.

The Programme Monitoring & Implementation Unit (PMIU-PESRP) has directed District Education Authorities (DEAs) to nominate two teachers per selected school to teach at these learning camps. Schools have been finalized, and district-level focal persons will oversee field implementation in collaboration with AEOs.

All nominated teachers must meet specific criteria, including a minimum qualification of graduation, strong teaching records, and familiarity with the local community. They will also be financially compensated for their services.

Important Details for Teacher Nomination:

Deadline to submit nominations: 13th April 2025
Each school must nominate exactly two teachers
Teachers must be available during summer break

SUBJECT:             NOMINATION OF TEACHERS FOR SUMMER LEARNING CAMPS

                              PMIU-PESRP under TALEEM programme, will be establishing learning camps during summer break 2025 in selected schools of 12 districts of Punjab. These learning camps will aim to strengthen Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) of children (age 5-9) currently enrolled in schools but having poor learning levels and secondly to enroll out-of-school-children in the camps and provide them basic education before enrolling them in mainstream schools at the end of the camps.

2.                           The field-level implementation of the learning camps will be carried out by DEAS, through district-level focal persons and AEO’s, in close liaison with PMIU-PESRP. Schools have been finalized and verified from the field for the learning camps.

Guidelines for the Nomination of Teachers

Teachers are to be nominated by AEOS in consultation with relevant Head teacher.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualification: Graduation
  • He/she must be available and willing to teach in the learning camp during summer break 2025.
  • He/she must be familiar with the local community and can reach out to parents to enroll their out-of-school children in learning camps.

Preference

1.            Best performing (good teaching record, attendance, etc.) govt. teacher of the same public school where camp is to be established.

2.            Govt. teacher of other public schools

3.            Private teacher

Note:

Teachers will be paid for the duration of the learning camp.

Head teacher can also nominate himself/herself as teacher for the learning camp if He/She is available and willing to teach during Summer break 2025.

Exactly two (02) teachers are to be nominated for each school i.e., one (1) for camp 1 (Beginners), one (1) for camp 2 (intermediate)
