KPK Government Directs Schools to Allow Free Subject Selection for Students:
The Directorate of Elementary and Secondary Education, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has issued a Government Notification addressing concerns about students being forced into science subjects in 9th and 11th grades. It has come to the department’s attention that some school heads discourage students from choosing arts subjects, limiting their academic freedom.
To counter this, the KP Education Department has now made it mandatory for all high and higher secondary schools to ensure that students are given free choice in subject selection. Every school head must provide an equal learning environment for both arts and science students without enforcing a specific subject stream.
This directive aims to foster a more inclusive and student-friendly education system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ensuring that students can pursue subjects based on their interests and career aspirations. Please find notification:

Empowering Students: Why Free Subject Choice Matters in KPK Schools:
This Government Notification marks a significant step in education reforms in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. By ensuring that students have the freedom to choose their subjects, the government is promoting a fair and balanced education system that respects individual preferences and career goals.
For years, many students have been pressured into science streams, even if their interests lie in arts, humanities, or other disciplines. With this directive, schools are now obligated to support students’ decisions and create an open learning environment for all.
