Government Issues New Notification on PM Assistance Package for Ex-Servicemen:

The Government of Pakistan has officially clarified the applicability of the Prime Minister’s Assistance Package in a recent notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat Establishment Division. According to the decision taken by the Federal Cabinet (Case No. 52/05/2025, dated 30-01-2025), ex-servicemen who are re-employed in civil posts after retirement from the armed forces are not eligible for service dues under the PM Assistance Package. Additionally, this package does not apply to Armed Forces Personnel.

However, the notification specifies that the package remains applicable to civilian personnel paid out of Defence estimates, provided they are regular government servants. This decision has been taken to streamline the eligibility criteria and avoid any misinterpretation of the PM Assistance Package policy.

All Ministries and Divisions have been directed to circulate this notification to their subordinate offices and attached departments to ensure compliance. For complete details, refer to the official notification below:

OFFICE MEMORANDUM

SUBJECT:             NON-GRANT OF SERVICE DUES UNDER PM ASSISTANCE PACKAGE FOR EX-SERVICEMEN

                              The undersigned is directed to refer to the subject cited above and to state that the Federal Cabinet in case No. 52/05/2025 dated 30-01-2025 has decided as under;

“The Prime Minister’s Assistance Package for families of Government servants who die in service is not applicable to ex-servicemen re-employed on civil post after retirement from armed forces and is also not applicable to Armed Forces Personnel. However, it is applicable to civilians’ personnel paid out of Defence estimates, are regular government servants”.

2.                           All Ministries/Divisions are requested to ensure circulation of the above-mentioned decision of the Cabinet to their attached departments and sub-ordinate offices under their administrative control for compliance.

Clarification Issued – PM Assistance Package Limited to Civilian Government Employees:

This official notification brings much-needed clarity to the eligibility of the PM Assistance Package. Ex-servicemen who rejoin civil posts after retirement, as well as Armed Forces Personnel, are not entitled to this package. However, civilian personnel paid from Defence estimates and classified as regular government employees will continue to receive benefits under this package.

The government’s decision is aimed at standardizing service benefits and ensuring that assistance reaches the intended beneficiaries without ambiguity. All relevant authorities must circulate and implement this decision without delay.
