PM Announces Committee to Resolve Grievances of Diamer Bhasha Dam Displaced Families–Official Notification:

The Government of Pakistan has taken a significant step towards resolving the concerns of Diamer Bhasha Dam affectees by constituting a high-level committee to address their legitimate grievances. This move aims to ensure fair compensation, rehabilitation, and welfare measures for the displaced families and affected communities.

As per the official notification issued by the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan & SAFRON, the committee will be led by the Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan & SAFRON as Chairman, with the Minister for Water Resources as Co-Chairman. Other key members include the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Chairman WAPDA, Chief Secretary GB, and relevant stakeholders.

The committee is tasked with evaluating the demands of the affectees and formulating solutions that align with government policies and international best practices for resettlement and compensation. The Ministry of Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan & SAFRON will provide secretarial support for the committee’s operations. Please find the official notification below:

Diamer Bhasha Dam Project: A Step Towards Justice for Affectees:

The Diamer Bhasha Dam Project is a megaproject of national importance, contributing to Pakistan’s energy and water security. However, the displacement of local communities has been a longstanding issue, requiring immediate attention. With this newly formed high-level committee, the government is demonstrating its commitment to fair compensation and rehabilitation for those affected.
