Subject: SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY FOR POLICE PERSONNEL/OFFICERS
It has been observed by the competent authority that police officers/ personnel are frequently engaging with social media platforms, such as TikTok, Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, etc. which allow users to create, share content, and participate in social networking. However, in doing so, they occasionally engage in actions or behaviors that do not align with the expected standards of professional conduct of Sindh Police.
In view of the above, the following directives must be complied with, in letter and spirit:
- Videos that feature police uniforms; badges, vehicles, weapons, and / or
other identifiable department property must have prior approval of the competent authority concerned and shall be uploaded from official accounts only. - Concerned offices / officers must not post, share or engage in videos
that contain: Mockery or disrespect of individuals based on race, gender, caste or religion. - No personal, political or religious views can be shared by police
personnel on various social media platforms. - Official social media platforms regarding police activities shall only be
run by concerned DIGsP/SSsP/Unit Head Media Team. - Use of Police HQs, offices and vehicles shall not be allowed by private
persons for any social media activity without prior permission of the concerned authority. - Police personnel/officers shall remove inappropriate videos or contents
aligned with this directive, within 7 days that are already uploaded on different social media platforms, after that strict departmental action shall be taken by concerned DIGsP/SSsP/Unit Heads.
Hitherto, posting content that is not aligned with this directive shall result in strict departmental action including warnings, suspension, or dismissal from service, depending on the severity of the offense.
DIGsP/SSsP/Unit Heads shall be personally responsible for enforcement of this policy.
All Zonal DIGsP and SSsP should circulate this directive to all police officers working under their command.
This issues with the approval of the competent authority.
