More rains-wind/thunderstorm predicted during the week (with occasional gaps)
Met office informed that another strong westerly wave is likely to enter western parts of the country on 16th April (Night) and likely to grip most parts of Balochistan on 17thApril and will extend to upper parts on 18th April. Under the influence of this weather system;
Balochistan: Rain-Wind/thunderstorm (few heavy, with isolated very heavy falls) is expected in Gwadar, Kech, Awaran, Chagi, Kharan, Awaran, Lasbella, Khuzdar, Kalat, Nushki, Mastung, JhalMagsi, Naseerabad, Sibi, Kohlu, DeraBugti, Bar Khan, Loralai, Harnai, QillaSaifullah, Mastung, Ziarat,Shirani, Zhob, Musakhel and Bar Khan From During 16th(night) to 19thApril (morning).
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Rain-Wind/thunderstorm (few heavy, with isolated very heavy falls) with snowfall over high mountains is expected inChitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner and Malakand, Waziristan, Kohat, LakkiMarwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur, Mohamand, Karak, Khyber, Peshawar, Char Sadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan and Kurram with occasional gaps from 17th(night) to 21st April. Hailstorm is also expected at isolated places during the forecast period.
Gilgit Baltistan/Kashmir: Rain-Wind/thunderstorm (few heavy falls) with snowfall over high mountains is expected inGilgit-Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar), Kashmir (Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimbar, Mirpur) with occasional gapsfrom 18th to 22nd April.
Punjab/Islamabad: Rain-Wind/thunderstorm (with few heavy falls/ hailstorm) is expected in Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/ Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, MandiBahauddin, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Pakpattan and Sahiwal from 18th to 21st April. While, in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, KotAddu, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar with occasional gapsfrom 18th to 20th April.
Sindh: Rain-Wind/thunderstorm is expected in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, Dadu, QamberShahdadkot, Jamshoro and Sangharfrom 17th (Night) to 19th April (Morning).
Possible Impacts and Advises:
- Heavy rainfall may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/ streams of Balochistan specially (Gawadar, Kech, Awaran, Kalat, Khuzdar) on 17th and 18th April, While Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, Tributaries of Kabul River, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir from 18th to 20th April.
- Possibility of Landslides in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan and may affect the vulnerable locations from 18th to 21st April.
- Windstorm/ Hailstorm and lightening may damage standing crops, loose structures like electric poles, Vehicles and Solar Panels etc. during the period.
- Farmers specially in wheat harvested areas are advised to manage their crops keeping in view the weather conditions.
- Tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary travelling during the forecast period.
- Temperatures are likely to drop during the wet spell.
Note: All concerned agencies are directed to remain on “ALERT” and take necessary measures to avoid any untoward situation during the forecast period.

رواں ہفتے کے دوران وقفے وقفے سے آندھی/ جھکڑ چلنے اور گرج چمک کے ساتھ مزید بارشوں کے پیشنگوئی
محکمہ موسمیات کے مطابق مغربی ہواؤں کا ایک اور سلسلہ 16 اپریل کی( رات)کو بلوچستان کے مغربی علاقوں میں داخل ہو گا۔ ی17 اپریل کو بلوچستان کے بیشتر اضلاحع کو اپنی لپیٹ میں لے گا اور 18 اپریل کو ملک کے بالائی علاقوں تک پھیل اجائے گا جس کے باعث:
بلوچستان: 16 (رات) سے 19 اپریل کی( صبح) کے دوران گوادر ، کیچ، آوران ، چاغی، خاران، لسبیلہ، خضدار، قلات، نوشکی، مستونگ ، جھل مگسی، نصیرآباد، سبی، کوہلو، ڈیرہ بگٹی ، بار کھان، لورالائی، ہر نائی، قلعہ سیف اللہ، زیارت ، شیرانی، ژو ب ، موسٰی خیل اور بارکھا ن میں اندھی /جھکڑ چلنے اور گرج چمک کے ساتھ بارش اور بعض مقامات پر شدید/موسلا دار بارش کا بھی امکان۔
خیبر پختونخواہ: 17 (رات) سے 21 اپریل کے دوران چترال، دیر ،سوات ،ایبٹ آباد، مانسہرہ، ہری پور، کوہستان ، شانگلہ بونیر اور مالاکنڈ، وزیرستان ، کوہاٹ، لکی مروت، بنوں، ڈیرہ اسماعیل خان، باجوڑ، محمند ، کرک ، خیبر، پشاور، چار سدہ، نوشہرہ، صوابی، مردان اور کرم میں اندھی/ جھکڑ چلنے اور گرمج چمک کے ساتھ وقفے وقفے سے بارش/ بعض مقامات پر شدید موسلا دار بارش اور بلند بالا پہاڑوں پر برف باری کا امکان۔
گلگت بلتستان/ کشمیر: 18 سے 22 اپریل کے دوران گلگت بلتستان(دیامیر، استور، غذر ، اسکردو، ہنزہ ، گلگت، گانچھے، شکر)، کشمیر( وادی نیلم، مظفرآباد، راولا کوٹ ، پونچھ، ہٹیاں، باغ ، حویلی، سدھنوتی، کوٹلی، بھمبر ، میرپور )میں تیز ہواؤں اور گرج چمک کے ساتھ وقفے وقفے سے بارش /بعض مقامات پر موسلادار بارش اور بلند و بالا پہاڑوں پر برف باری کا امکان۔
پنجاب/ اسلام آباد: 18 سے 21 اپریل کے دوران مری ، گلیات ،اسلام آباد/ راولپنڈی، اٹک ،چکوال، جہلم ،منڈی بہاؤالدین ،گجرات، گجرانوالہ، حافظ آباد، سیالکوٹ ، نارووال ، لاہور، قصور ، اوکاڑ، ا فیصل آباد، ٹوبہ ٹیک سنگھ، جھنگ، خوشاب ، سرگودھا، میانوالی، پاک پتن اور ساہیوال میں وقفے وقفے سے آندھی/ جھکڑ چلنے اور گرج چمک کے ساتھ بارش اور بعض مقامات پر موسلا دھار بارش /ژالہ باری کا امکان۔ جبکہ 18 سے 20 اپریل کے دوران ڈیرہ غازی خان ،راجن پور، بھکر، لیہ، ملتان ،کوٹ ادو، مظفرگڑھ، رحیم یار خان، صادق آباد، خان پور، بہاولپور اور بہاولنگر میں وقفے وقفے سے آندھی /جھکڑ چلنے اور گرج چمک کے ساتھ بارش کا امکان۔
سندھ 17(رات )سے 19 اپریل کی (صبح) تک کراچی، حیدرآباد، سکھ، جیکب آباد، کشمور، لاڑکانہ، دادو، قمبر شہداد کوٹ ، جام شورو اور سانگھڑ میں تیز ہواؤں/آندھی اور گرج چمک کے ساتھ بارش کا امکان ۔
ممکنہ اثرات اور احتیاطی تدابیر
۔ 17 اور 18اپریل کو شدید /موسلا دھار بارش کے باعث بلوچستان کے مقامی اور برساتی ندی نالوں خصوصا گوادر، کیچ، آورران اور قلات جبکہ 18 سے 20 اپریل کے دوران دیر، سوالت، چترال ، کوہستان اور مانسہرہ کے مقامی ندی نالوں/ اور دریائے کابل سے ملحقہ علاقوں میں طغیانی کا خطرہ۔
۔ 18سے 21 اپریل کے دوران تیز بارش کے باعث بالائی خیبر پختون خواہ ، مری، گلیات ، کشمیر اور گلگت بلتستان میں لینڈ سلائیڈنگ کا بھی خدشہ۔
آندھی/ جھکڑ /ژالہ باری /گرج چمک اور تیز بارش کے باعث کھڑی فصلوں ، کمزور انفرا سٹرکچر ، بجلی کے کھمبے، گاڑیوں، سولر پینل وغیرہ کو نقصان کا اندیشہ۔
کسان حضرات اپنی فصلوں خصوصا گندم کی کٹائی کے علاقوں میں موسم کو مدنظر رکھتے ہوئے اپنے معمولات ترتیب دیں۔
تیز بارشوں کے دوران سیاح حضرات غیر ضروری سفر سے اجتناب کریں۔
بارشوں کے باعث درجہ حرارت میں نمایاں کمی کا امکان۔

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) (Press Release at Annex-A) has forecasted that another westerly wave is entering Pakistan from 16th April and is likely to grip most parts of the country until 22nd April. 2. Under the influence of this weather system, following are likely impacts: –
a. KP, GB, Galiyat, Murree and State of AJ&K
(1) Heavy Rainfall / Thunderstorms may disrupt roads during the period.
(2) Tourists are advised to remain cautious during the spell and check weather updates before traveling.
(3) Electricity / other utility services may get disrupted.
(4) Heavy Rainfall may generate flash flooding in local nullahs / streams and river tributaries.
(5) Landslides, mudslides, may lead to potential road blockages in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Galiyat, Murree, Gilgit Baltistan and State of AJ&K.
(6) Windstorms / Hailstorms may damage crops, loose structures, etc.
(7) Thunderstorms to increase risk of lightning strikes.
(8) Farmers are advised to remain extra cautious and plan agricultural activity accordingly during the spell.
(9) Temperatures are likely to drop during the wet spell.
b. Balochistan
(1) Heavy rainfall may cause flash flooding in local nullahs.
(2) Hill torrents are expected in Sulaiman and the Kirthar Range.
(3) Landslides / mudslides m a y lead to potential road blockages.
(4) Windstorms / Hailstorms may damage crops, loose structures, etc.
(5) Thunderstorms to increase risk of lightning strikes.
(6) Electricity / other utility services may get disrupted.
(7) Farmers are advised to remain extra cautious and plan agricultural activity accordingly during the spell.
(8) Temperatures are likely to drop during the wet spell.
c. Punjab / Sindh / Islamabad Capital Territory
(1) Hill torrents are expected in DG Khan and Rajanpur.
(2) Heavy Rainfall may generate flash flooding in local nullahs / streams and river tributaries.
(3) Windstorms / Hailstorms may damage crops, loose structures, etc.
(4) Thunderstorms to increase risk of lightning strikes.
(5) Electricity / other utility services may get disrupted.
(6) Farmers are advised to remain extra cautious and plan agricultural activity accordingly during the spell.
(7) Tourists are advised to remain cautious during the spell and check weather updates before traveling.
(8) Temperatures are likely to drop during the wet spell.
3. All PDMAs / GBDMA / SDMA and ICT Administration, NHA, NH&MP, FWO, Rescue 1122, Dam Authorities, Line Departments, Ministries and Federal Agencies are required to undertake measures as per respective mandates. However, the following is to be ensured by all concerned, in addition to measures deemed appropriate as per on ground situation / requirements: –
a. Ensure round-the-clock monitoring of the situation through EOCs with regular feedback to PEOCs and NEOC.
b. DDMA/ District Administration are advised to relocate families to safe sites and shelters from mud houses in order to prevent casualties.
c. Forewarn travelers / visitors about risks posed from flooding / landslides and likely snowfall over mountains in vulnerable locations and provide guidance and assistance in case of emergencies through local administration, police and rescue services.
d. Ensure that in places where there is a high risk of urban floods, flash flooding, hill torrents and landslides -emergency services, personnel and equipment (such as Rescue 1122, Fire Brigade, Ambulance and Civil Defense, among others) are available.
e. Preplace necessary emergency equipment at vulnerable / strategic locations to expedite response efforts and complete stocking / replenishment of stocks.
f. NH&MP and Traffic Police to coordinate with Law Enforcement Agencies to manage and redirect traffic from affected areas to safer areas, to prevent congestion and facilitate emergency response efforts.
g. NHA / Line Departments to conduct regular inspections of critical infrastructure, such as bridges and roads, to identify and address any vulnerability that may leadto structural damage during heavy rainfall.
h. PMD / FFD / PDMAs / PIDs to proactively monitor nullahs / storm water drains, to ensure their proper functioning and prevent blockages that may lead to inundation.
i. Ensure widespread circulation of alerts and advisories, especially in local languages, to raise awareness and sensitize travelers / tourists and local communities in at-risk / vulnerable areas.
j. Coordinate with relevant departments to secure loose structures such as electrical poles, solar panels, hoardings and under-construction buildings to mitigate potential damages from dust-wind / thunderstorms.
k. Conduct mass public awareness campaigns to educate residents and travelers in vulnerable areas about the risks of flash flooding / landslides / avalanche / blizzard and take precautionary measures.
l. Advise general public to seek shelter in safe areas, such as sturdy buildings or underground structures during dust-wind / hail-thunderstorms and avoid objects that pose a risk of falling / being struck by lightning.
m. Strengthen coordination among all relevant departments and agencies to facilitate
timely sharing of information and resources during emergency situations.
n. Establish reliable communication channels with local communities to provide timely updates, instructions and emergency contact information.
o. Advise farmers to take necessary mitigative and precautionary measures to safeguard their crops through timely harvesting, safe storage or any other precaution from adverse effects of dust-wind-thunderstorms / hailstorms and likely drop in temperatures.
p. Share daily / routine updates with NDMA in case of any eventuality.

2. Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) informed that rain- wind/ thunderstorm (with few heavy falls/hailstorm) is expected in Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/ Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Pakpattan and Sahiwal from 18th to 21st April. While, in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar with occasional gaps from 18th to 20th April:
3. Alert regarding these spells of rains from 18th to 21st April, 2024, in the Punjab has already been issued to field formations vide letter No PEOC-2024/19. However, as per directions of honorable Chief Minister Punjab, all the District Administrations in the province and concerned lead agencies must take effective steps in close coordination with all relevant departments to ensure public safety at large. Maximum care should also be taken to ensure the safety of livestock in rural areas. (copy enclosed)

5. In view of above, it is reiterated that all the administrative secretaries Deputy Commissioners/ Chairman DDMAs/ Field formations are requested to maintain high level of preparedness and ensuring the following measures:-
- Deputy Commissioners to issue early warnings/ awareness through local media/ TV cables/ announcements, revenue staff and all other available means to alert general public to avoid unnecessary travelling or stay under open sky during thunderstorm/ sky lightening/ hailstorm.
- Ensure round-the-clock monitoring of the situation through DEOCs give regular feedback to PEOC/ Provincial Control Room of PDMA.
- DDMA/ District Administration are advised to relocate families to safe sites and shelters from mud houses in order to prevent casualties.
- Forewarn travelers / visitors about risks posed from flooding / landslides and likely snowfall over mountains in vulnerable locations and provide guidance and assistance in case of

Subject: HIGH ALERT TO CQPE WITH EXPECTED HEAVY SPELL OF RAINS FROM 18th TO 21st OF APRIL, 2024 IN PUNJAB
Reference above cited subject, Honorable Chief Minister, Punjab has desired to keep all relevant provincial departments including Divisional/ District Administration and Police on high alert to cope with expected heavy spell of rains from 18th to 21st of April, 2024 in a satisfactory manner Relevant departments must issue timely warning to people of low-laying areas and make arrangements for their shifting to safer places to ensure their safety and security They must take all preventive measures to avoid any untoward situation during such period.
2. Furthermore, Chief Minister has desired that the public should be warned about the situation in advance. Help should be taken from media, social media and mobile alerts service in this regard.
3. Accordingly, it has been desired by the Chief Minister that all the District Administrations in the Province and concerned lead agencies like Board of Revenue, POMA Rescue 1122 and WASA must take effective steps in advance in close coordination with all the relevant departments to ensure public safety at large. Maximum care should also be taken to ensure safety of livestock in rural areas.
