Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) Releases SBA 2025 Schedule & SOPs:

The Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) has officially released the schedule for the End-of-Year School-Based Assessment (SBA) 2025 for students in Grades 1 to 8 across Punjab. The notification, issued in accordance with the School Education Department’s directives, outlines the assessment timeline, procedural guidelines, and SOPs to ensure a smooth examination process.

As per the official SBA 2025 schedule, the Item Bank System (IBS) will be uploaded on March 3, 2025, while the assessments will take place between March 10 and March 21, 2025. Schools are required to generate bilingual question papers through IBS, ensuring alignment with the approved syllabus and Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs). Marking and report card distribution will follow the set timeline, concluding with Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) on April 3, 2025.

The Punjab government aims to enhance transparency and efficiency in student evaluations through standardized assessments and digital paper generation. All schools—both public and private—are directed to strictly follow the issued SOPs and guidelines. Please find notification:

SUBJECT:             SCHEDULE FOR END-OF-YEAR SCHOOL BASED ASSESSMENT (SBA) 2025 AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SOPS IN SCHOOLS ACROSS THE PUNJAB

                              In pursuant to the School Education Department letter No. SO(ER-I)1-19/2018 dated 18-02-2025, I am directed to coordinate regarding the subject matter, the following schedule is hereby communicated to conduct the End-of-Year School Based Assessment, 2025 (SBA 2025) for Grades 1 to 8 across the Punjab.

Standard Operating Procedures

  1. Item Bank will be uploaded onto the Item Bank System (IBS) on 3rd March, 2025.
  2. The End-of-Year SBA 2025 has been developed in accordance with the syllabus/SLOs as envisaged in the Academic Calendar.
  3. All the question papers will be provided bilingually except English, Urdu, Tarjuma- tul-Quran-ul-Majeed and Ethics. However, the schools have been given the option to generate the subject papers either in English or in Urdu.
  4. Every school will generate question papers by logging into the Item Bank System (IBS) with scannable QR code showing complete information of the school with EMIS code.
  5. The system-generated paper for each subject (Grades 3 to 8) will be of Two Page with scannable QR code. Marking will be done as per keys & rubrics, generated along with the papers through IBS.
  6. The assessment of grades 1 & 2 will be oral for all subjects with five (05) sections of twenty (20) marks each, whereas, only one question for each subject of English and Urdu will be in writing to assess the writing skill. One colored print of each subject paper having Four Pages would be required for grades 1 & 2 for teachers only.
  7. The assessment of listening, speaking and reading skills in the subjects of English and Urdu will be conducted on the separate day. The questions for assessment of these skills have been provided in rubrics.
  8. Papers for optional subjects will be developed and conducted by the schools themselves on PEC pattern, i.e., 32 MCQs of 48 marks and 5 CRQS of 52 marks and that shall also be reflected in the Student Report Card accordingly.
  9. The schools will arrange Parent Teacher Meeting (PTM) on 3rd April, 2025 and the Student Report Cards prepared on prescribed format, which is available in the school IBS login, that will be shared with parents in the parent-teacher meeting.
  10. The schools shall maintain the Assessment Register and keep it updated for all the terms.
  11. The CEOS-DEAS will take necessary measures to ensure that the schools have generated papers through IBS by using their own school login. It will also be ensured that the SBA is conducted in accordance with the given SOPs and the schedule (Annex-A).
  12. The implementation of SOPs and schedule shall be monitored by the monitoring teams, specially constituted for the purpose, during the conduct and marking of the End-of-Year SBA 2025.
  13. The CEO-DEAS will transmit/ circulate the schedule for End-of-Year SBA 2025 to all the public & private schools for optimum utilization of IBS.
  14. All Private schools may contact to the CEO-DEAS concerned for login & password to generate the papers through IBS.

2.                           The CEO-DEAS are requested to take all necessary measures to ensure that all the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding End-of-Year SBA 2025 are being fully implemented in letter and spirit.
