SUBJECT: PROTECTION FOR WOMEN FROM HARASSMENT AT THE WORKPLACE
I am directed to refer to the subject cited above and to state that the competent authority has shown serious concern over the harassment of Women at various Workplaces and the lack of action from the District Education Authorities to address these issues. The inadequate attention of District Education Authorities has led to a significant rise in harassment cases. The authorities’ lack of action in addressing the harassment issues has created sense of insecurities amongst the women at offices / workplace.
2. I am further directed to ask you to take necessary measures to ensure the protection of women from harassment in the light of “The Protection Against Harassment Of Women At The Workplace Act, 2010. In case of any unpleasant incident, the matter must be referred to the competent forum immediately in the light of Section 4 of the Act ibid under intimation to this department.
3. I am further directed to ask you to submit report to this department within seven days regarding the pending cases of harassment in your respective Districts. Moreover, if any complaint/ case of harassment is found to be unattended / unaddressed, strict disciplinary proceedings shall be taken against the concerned authorities under the PEEDA Act, 2006.
