Sindh Government Cracks Down on Social Media Use by Officials–New Guidelines Issued:

The Sindh Chief Minister’s Secretariat has issued strict instructions regarding the use of personal social media accounts by government officers and officials. A notification dated 15th February 2025 has been sent to the Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police, Sindh, highlighting concerns over public servants using social media for self-promotion and sharing official content online.

According to the directive, certain officers have been observed uploading pictures, messages, and content related to their government offices, vehicles, and uniforms, which contradicts the official Conduct Rules. The Sindh government has taken serious notice of this practice and has warned that violators will face strict disciplinary action as per the relevant laws and regulations.

All government employees in Sindh are now advised to desist from such practices and maintain professionalism while handling official matters. Below is the official notification detailing the new policy: Please find the official notification below:

    SUBJECT:             SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS

    I am directed to refer to the subject and convey that Honourable Chief Minister has observed that certain officers/officials working under supervision are using personal social media accounts for glorifying their official duties. They upload egregious messages and photographs sharing Government offices, vehicles and uniforms, which is inherently contradictory to the Conduct Rules.

    2.                     It is requested to please direct all officers/Officials to desist from such practices, failing which necessary penal action may be ensured in accordance with the relevant laws/rules.
