Private Teaching Activities During College Hours Banned: Government Notification:

The College Education Department, Government of Sindh, has issued a crucial directive dated January 15, 2025, aimed at addressing an alarming issue that has come to the notice of higher authorities. Certain government college teachers have been engaging in private teaching activities at tuition and coaching centers during official working hours, thereby neglecting their primary responsibilities. Such actions not only undermine the integrity of their profession but also negatively impact student attendance and the overall academic environment of government colleges. Teachers hold the sacred duty of educating and shaping the minds of future generations, and any deviation from this responsibility for personal gain is deemed unethical, unprofessional, and unacceptable. This directive, addressed to all principals of government colleges, underscores the government’s firm stance on maintaining discipline, ensuring accountability, and fostering an environment of academic excellence. It lays out clear instructions to curb this malpractice while emphasizing the critical role of principals in monitoring teacher attendance and enforcing compliance. Notification Describes;

Subject :-       PROHIBITION OF PRIVATE TEACHING ACTIVITIES DURING COLLEGE WORKING HOURS

Advertising

I am directed to refer to the subject noted above and to state that it has come to the notice of higher authorities that certain government college teachers are engaging in private teaching at Tuition/Coaching Centers during official working hours and avoiding their assigned teaching duties by shifting their responsibilities to other colleagues or junior staff which leads to the decline in student attendance and adversely affects the academic environment .. Such misuse of government duty time for private purposes is highly unprofessional, unethical and utterly unacceptable. Teachers are entrusted with the critical responsibility of shaping the future of students and any diversion of their time and efforts away from this noble duty cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.

                              Therefore, all principals are hereby strictly directed to ensure that teachers remain in college during official working hours and fulfill their assigned duties and responsibilities. Teachers are strictly prohibited from engaging in teaching activities at Tuition/Coaching centers during college working hours. Principals must closely monitor teacher attendance and ensure that scheduled teaching periods are conducted as per the timetable. If any teacher is found violating these directives by engaging in private teaching during working hours, strict disciplinary proceedings will be initiated under Sindh Civil Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules 1973, against both the teacher and the principal concerned for negligence in supervision.
