Urgent Directive for SIS Data Rectification Issued by Punjab Education Authorities:
The Programme Monitoring and Implementation Unit (PMIU) of the Punjab Education Sector Reform Programme (PESRP) has issued a critical directive, dated January 13, 2025, addressing the correction of anomalous data identified during the Annual School Census 2024-25. This census, conducted through the School Information System (SIS), is a cornerstone for data-driven decision-making in the education sector, capturing vital information such as school infrastructure, student enrollment, teacher qualifications, and staff composition. However, a post-census internal review has revealed discrepancies in the collected data that could compromise its reliability and effectiveness. To rectify this, the PMIU has instructed the District Monitoring Officers (DMOs) to collaborate with the Chief Executive Officers of District Education Authorities (CEOs-DEAs) and ensure that schools address these anomalies in the SIS. By setting a clear deadline of January 17, 2025, for the submission of corrected data, the directive emphasizes the urgency and importance of accurate, dependable educational statistics for informed policy-making and strategic planning.
