Director (Taxes-I) Now Responsible for Key Tax Revenues in Sindh:
In a recent administrative order, the Government of Sindh’s Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department has realigned responsibilities to enhance the efficiency of tax collection. As per the notification dated January 24, 2025, the collection of Professional Tax, Infrastructure Cess, and Entertainment Duty has been reassigned to the Director (Taxes-I), Excise & Taxation, Karachi. This decision, approved by the Competent Authority, underscores the department’s intent to optimize revenue generation and streamline the taxation system. The Director (Taxes-I) is now entrusted with achieving annual revenue targets while also focusing on broadening the tax base to support sustainable economic growth. By centralizing these crucial tax collections under one authority, the department aims to reinforce accountability, improve compliance, and ensure a more effective administration of tax policies. ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER
With approval of the Competent Authority i.e. Minister, Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control, Sindh the following collection of Taxes are hereby assigned to the Director (Taxes-I) Excise & Taxation, Karachi instead of Additional Director (Taxes-II) Excise & Taxation, Karachi with Immediate effect and till further orders:
- Professional Tax
- Infrastructure Cess
- Entertainment Duty

       The Director (Taxes-I) Excise & Taxation, Karachi shall be responsible to ensure meeting of all assigned revenue targets and shall ensure optimum broadening of tax base on year-to-year basis.
