According to a recent government notification issued by the Establishment Division, the revised schedule takes immediate effect starting April 3, 2025. Offices operating on a 5-day workweek (Monday to Friday) will now observe duty hours from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, while those on a 6-day schedule (Monday to Saturday) will operate from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with a lunch/prayer break from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM. These updates apply across all federal institutions, and public sector employees are expected to adhere strictly to the revised schedule. New School Timings for Punjab’s Public Schools Effective from April 1, 2025–Notification

Notification / OM No. NO.SO(A-1)1-31/2022 Dated 26-March-2025 Notification Issued By: School Education Department, Government Of The Punjab Punjab Government Announces Revised School Timings for Summer 2025: The Punjab School Education Department has issued a new notification regarding school timings for the upcoming summer session (April 1, 2025, to October 15, 2025). The revised schedule applies to all public schools across Punjab and includes adjusted morning and evening shifts to accommodate students and teachers effectively. According to the notification, single-shift schools will operate from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday to Thursday, and until 12:00 Noon on Fridays. For double-shift schools, morning shifts will run from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM (Monday-Thursday) and 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon (Friday), while evening shifts will operate from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM (Monday-Thursday) and 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM (Friday). Additionally, the new schedule introduces enhanced working hours for teachers, ensuring adequate time for lesson planning, resource preparation, and professional development activities. The government has directed Chief Executive Officers (District Education Authorities) to ensure strict compliance, warning that any negligence or failure to implement the new schedule will be dealt with under the law.
