This initiatiThe Government of Pakistan’s Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety has issued a crucial notification regarding the deduction of Zakat for the Islamic year 1445-46 AH. As per the official announcement, the Nisab of Zakat has been set at Rs. 179,689, meaning any bank account balance below this threshold will be exempt from Zakat deduction. This deduction applies to Saving Bank Accounts, Profit and Loss Sharing Accounts, and similar financial assets. The first day of Ramzan 1446 AH, expected to fall on 1st or 2nd March 2025, has been declared as the official Zakat deduction date. All banks and financial institutions are instructed to comply with this order and ensure timely deposit of deducted amounts into the Central Zakat Account (CZ-08) at the State Bank of Pakistan. This announcement applies to all provincial government offices across Balochistan, ensuring a balanced work schedule during the fasting month. As per the notification, different timing schedules will be followed for offices operating on a 5-day workweek and a 6-day workweek. The changes aim to accommodate employees who will be observing fasts during Ramazan while ensuring smooth government operations. For offices working five days a week, Monday to Thursday working hours will be 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, while Friday’s timings will be 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Meanwhile, offices with a six-day work schedule will operate from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, except on Fridays, which will be from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
