The District Education Officers, All districts, Sindh.SUBJECT: SCHOOL ORIENTATIONS FOR STEAM SCHOOL JOURNEY. As you are aware, the department is committed to improving learning opportunities in STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths – for students of the province. To this end, a STEAM School program was initiated in selected schools with 538 schools onboarded in batches from December 2022 to December 2023 through in-person and virtual orientations in 11 districts. We are now pleased to expand the STEAM Program to all districts so that every school is able to transform the student learning experience through low-cost, hands-on, interdisciplinary STEAM Club activities, STEAM Safeer sessions and Teachers’ Hubs. To this end, you are expected to ensure that at least 50% of the post-primary schools in your districts register, orient themselves and start their STEAM School Journey. Districts that are already part of the program (i.e. Sukkur, Khairpur, Hyderabad, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Karachi Central, South, East, West, Malir, Korangi) must ensure that all their remaining unregistered schools also register and begin STEAM activities. You are requested to guide relevant schools to do the following: Region Date Time Hyderabad 18th September 2024 10.40 am – 12:00 pm Shaheed Benazirabad 19th September 2024 Mirpurkhas 23rd September 2024 S ukkur 24th September 2024 Karachi 25th September 2024 Larkana 26th September 2024 (iv)      School HMs are requested to make arrangements to ensure that their nominated STEAM focal person and other relevant teachers for STEAM activities are able to attend the two-hour online orientation meeting, which can be joined via smartphone and mobile data. (v)       All STEAM District Focal Persons are expected to attend the virtual orientation along with schools of their district respectively. Please note that districts will be asked to report on their schools’ STEAM portal registration, attendance and participation in the orientations.
