NOTIFICATION
No. CK/ Home Br./(Gatherings)/2024-34: WHEREAS, the Additional Inspector General of Police, Karachi Range, vide letter No. Addl.IGP/Khi/Rdr/9609/-2024 dated 12.10.2024, has informed that protests, demonstrations, sit-ins, rallies are going to be held by different factions on same day in the city, which may cause security’ issues, law & order situation, and inconvenience to the general public. Therefore, he has requested for imposition of ban under section 144 Cr.PC on any type of protests, demonstrations, set-in, rallic.5 and assembly of more than five (05) persons with in the limit of Karachi Division.
AND WHEREAS, the situation warrants immediate action as there is sufficient grounds to proceed under section 144 Cr.P.C. on gatherings in order to maintain law and order situation within the Karachi Division to avoid any untoward incident.
NOW THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers under section 144(6) Cr. PC, delegated by the Home Department, Government of Sindh under Notification No. SOJ1/8.01(03)/2016, dated 21.05.2020, I, Syed Hassan Naqvi, Commissioner Karachi Division, do hereby impose a complete ban on any type of protests, demonstrations, sit-ins, rallies and assemblies of more than five (OS) persons within the territorial limit of Karachi Division for a period of five (05) days w.e.f. 13th October, 2024 to 17th October, 2024.
In pursuance of Section 195 (i) (a) Cr.PC, the Station House Officers (SHOs) of concerned Police Stations are hereby authorized to register complaints under Section 188 PPC in writing against the violation of Section 144 Cr.PC.
