Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Monitoring Authority Issues Strict Attendance Policy for School Heads–Notification

Notification / OM No. No. ADC/EMA/6-23/988 Dated 29-April-2025 Notification Issued By: Education Monitoring Authority (EMA), Government Of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Stricter Monitoring for KP School Heads: New Attendance Rule Introduced: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, through the Education Monitoring Authority (EMA), has implemented a new directive focused on improving administrative discipline and transparency in educational institutions. This government notification highlights a rising issue—school heads like headmasters, headmistresses, and principals have reportedly failed to record their own attendance in the official registers, resulting in inaccurate cumulative monthly attendance data. To ensure that every educational leader follows the same protocols as the rest of the staff, the EMA has now recommended mandatory attendance marking for all school heads. This move will enhance teacher accountability and overall school monitoring processes in KP’s Elementary and Secondary Education Department. This is an important update for all educational stakeholders, especially those searching for KPK School Head Attendance Rules 2025, KP education updates, or government teacher policies in KPK. Please find notification: GOVERNMENT OF KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWAEDUCATION MONITORING AUTHORITY (EMA)House No. 1A, Near Saif Town Residence, Old Bara Road, University Town, Peshawar No. ADC/EMA/6-23/988                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Dated: 29/04/2025 To The Secretary to Govt. of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,Elementary & Secondary Education Department,Civil Secretariat Peshawar. SUBJECT:             ATTENDANCE OF THE SCHOOL HEADS IN THE ATTENDANCE REGISTERS. Dear Sir,                               I am directed to refer to the subject noted above and to state that KP-EMA has started recording the cumulative monthly attendance of the teachers since the start of March-2025. However, the field offices of KP-EMA have reported that the school heads, particularly Headmasters/ Headmistresses and Principals, do not mark their presence in the attendance registers, resulting in insufficient data for cumulative attendance. 2.                           In view of the above, I am directed to request that clear instructions may be issued to heads of all government schools through proper channels for mandatory marking of their attendance in the attendance registers, please. Assistant Director (Coord) Enforcing Accountability: School Heads Must Follow Attendance Rules in KPK: This new notification by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Monitoring Authority signals a stronger push toward transparent governance in the education sector. By making it compulsory for school heads to mark their attendance just like other teachers, the KP government is reinforcing the principle of equal responsibility at every level of the education system. With the cumulative monthly attendance data now being compiled since March 2025, it has become even more critical for all educators, including leadership staff, to follow proper procedures. Non-compliance may result in administrative complications and a lack of accountability within the system.
